MISSION
Citizen advocates supporting and promoting responsible natural
resource and energy development to help build and strengthen our
economy, communities and future.
GOALS
GOAL 1. Support responsible natural resource and energy
development.
Objectives:
- Supporting the development of our areas strengths is the best
means of economic development. Economic development is needed
in Montana and it will benefit our communities, citizens and families.
- Support the responsible development of natural resources including
but not limited to: wind, water, land, coal, fuel cells, natural
gas, hydrogen,coal bed natural gas, ethanol, bio-diesel, oil,
solar, all other sources of energy, irrigation development and
value-added agricultural.
- Support individuals, businesses, organizations and others with
a similar mission.
- Promote, educate and provide a means for the majority of people
who live in our communities to speak out in favor of responsible
development.
- The number of members and a list of member’s names will
be available, at the discretion of the Board of Directors, to
support the mission and goals of the organization.
GOAL 2. Promote development of additional and updated transmission
capacity in Montana.
Objectives:
- Write letters to Congressional delegation, State Officials,
and federal and state agencies and boards about the needs and
desires of the membership.
- Attend meetings and provide educational information.
GOAL 3. Develop the Organization.
Objectives:
- Develop a large, motivated, involved, and broad-based working
membership.
- Develop mission statement, goals and objectives.
- Develop Articles and by-laws.
- Obtain IRS tax status of 501(c)3.
- Develop membership materials.
- First year goal of 2,000 members
- Put in place motivated, well respected, active and involved
Board
- Meet on a regular basis.
GOAL 4. Develop a viable funding base, hire staff when
developed.
Objectives:
- Put in place a membership fee structure, including associate
members.
- Look into alternative methods of funding.
- Research a donation campaign.
- Research grant possibilities.
GOAL 5. Promote our organization and its cause.
Objectives:
- Educate and inform the membership and the public to our efforts
and the
issues.
- Keep membership involved and motivated.
- Put together letter writing campaigns, call trees, list serve
and other efforts to support our goals.
- Effective participation in planning and project review processes
including but not limited to NEPA and MEPA.
- Organize effective grass roots support and public hearing attendance
efforts. We need to provide education, public forums and promote
the positives about responsible energy and its benefits to the
communities
- Help find and define community resources available to assist
in the process.
- Work with newspapers, radio and TV and all media to let people
know of our mission. Find an effective way to communicate and
work with all involved in the process.
GOAL 6. Keeping in mind our mission we will strive to work
with all involved.
Objectives:
- Strive to be inclusive, taking into account all perspectives
– seek the common ground.
- Try to collaborate and partner whenever possible.
GOAL 7. Support the development of an Energy Policy for
the State of Montana.
Objectives:
- Work with the State to complete a broad based energy policy.
Definition:
Responsible is defined as: being marked by or involving responsibility,
rational, weighing the pros and cons and attempting to make the
best decision within a reasonable time frame. Making informed decisions
with consideration of the economy, the community and the environment.
Supporting a responsible, rational, common sense approach to developing
our natural resources.
